This is a large antique Chinese Export carved calling card case in it’s original glass fronted box with inscriptions on the bottom and top. One side is carved with dragons and the other side is carved with birds in bamboo and flowers. It measures 4 1/2 x 3 inches. There is some repaired damage to the one side of the slip on top. They had no children and Mrs. McCray was a collector of American furniture, fans, calling card cases, and Chinese export items. Most of her collecting was done from the 1930s through the 1950s. The fans and card cases were left to her niece and they have been in storage since then. The range is wonderful with European, American, and Chinese examples with no two alike. There are approximately 55 fans and 85 card cases, so it will take some time to sell them all. I will be listing then over the next few months, so please bookmark me.
