Specializing in Fine Antique Vintage Jewelry & Collectibles. 1920 Deco 14k Gold Chinese Dragon Phoenix Repousse Bracelet! These prices come from GIA recognized Gem Guide , THE wholesale price guide for dealers. These values do not dictate what a piece is worth. This is the price a piece would be worth if stripped down and melted to its bare materials. The safety clasp on the side of the bracelet is broken and currently does not function. The bracelet is secure without it. This beautiful bracelet comes from the Art Deco Era! The Art Deco Era is famous for being the “Gatsby” or “Roaring Twenties” Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. Chinese Export jewelry became popular during the late Victorian Period and lasted until the 1960’s. In a lot of ways Chinese Export jewelry fashioned what we know of jewelry today. During these period’s Chinese Craftsmen including Jewelers, Stone cutters were considered by far the best in the world. The rich and wealthy would have a piece custom ordered through their local jeweler whom was usually gifted at drawing a design to send off to contacts in China to craft and send back. As you can imagine, this was not cheap, that being said, these pieces are very rare and few have survived until today. Dragon’s and Phoenix’s are two of the most powerful Chinese celestial animals and within their right also represent Yin & Yang! The Phoenix is represented as Yin, the female while the dragon is represented as Yang, the male. This celestial couple is a symbol of everlasting love and together are the symbol of ultimate martial happiness. Through Yin & Yang the celestial couple balances each other out perfectly and represent that a man and a spouse will stay together forever through thick and thin and that love and passion will last until the end. The gold work in this piece would of been entirely hand carved by a team of talented Chinese gold smiths out of 14k rose gold! The design runs along the entire length of the bracelet and features a striking Dragon & Phoenix scene which as you read above, has a lot of meaning in Chinese history. The scene is carved out from the back of the gold work using a Repousse style and features a dragon on one side of the bracelet, and a phoenix on the other! The designs are beautifully detailed with ornate etchings over the top of the repousse designs that both the dragon and the phoenix’s features beautifully. The designs even feature subtle hints of yellow throughout that give the carvings a gorgeous contrast between rose and yellow gold! The bangle bracelet features an inside circumference that measures 7.5 and is finished off with a push in clasp that works perfectly. Please view the pictures one last time and truly appreciate the amount of skill and effort put into making this piece. Zoom in on the details, can you image carving out all of these obscure and fascinating details by hand? It would have taken months – this piece is absolutely incredible! Antique and Vintage jewelry is disappearing at alarming rates. Unfortunately most of the jewelry from this time period has been lost or melted down over the years, please don’t miss your chance to own this special piece of history! Main Stone Carat Weight/Color/Clarity. Accent Stone Carat Weight/Color/Clarity. Sizable by Your Local Jeweler. Due to the age of some of these pieces some items will not be stamped. The National Stamping Act was not enacted until 1906, before 1906 jewelry was not legally required to have a karat mark. This is one way to date items prior to the Art Nouveau time period. All of our jewelry is verified and guaranteed though an x-ray florescent-spectrometer test. This test conducts and determines the exact alloy content within the metal without damaging the piece like scratch and acid testing. Please be aware if you take an item to be tested by a jeweler, jewelers use scratch testing and electronic testing. These methods are only accurate 50% of the time, these are cheap, ineffective, and damaging ways to test to gold purity of an item. The XRF requires specialized training in order to correctly read the results. Rest assured that what you are receiving is 100% accurate. Item(s) must be sent back in original condition. If you plan to take your item to a jeweler please visit one with a specialized field in estate jewelry. Most jewelry stores work with new/modern designs and on rare occasion are asked about vintage items. Chain jewelers are NOT a reliable source to date a piece of jewelry unless they are specialized with estate items. We started out in the jewelry business knowing individuals who were in the smelting business. As we watched these smelters melting new, vintage, & antique 100+ year old jewelry for the metal value, we cringed!! We thought that there must be a way to save this special and once in a lifetime type of jewelry instead of melting these wonderful items. We started to set up at trade shows and other events to sell to people. I’m glad we did, you can get just as much interaction with people over the internet as you can face to face. We love all of our customers and love the quick messages anybody likes to send our way! We try to offer a variety of jewelry from Rings, Necklaces, Pendants, Brooch’s, Gold & Silver.
